Are your child's intimate photos in the hands of a predator?
55 THINGS PARENTS & GRANDPARENTS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING: #10
Editor’s Note:
A huge concern, as a parent, is that my child may fall prey to a predator via the Internet. The Internet as we well know, despite the wonderful access to information, the Internet can be an extremely dangerous place. Your child can be put in an exceedingly difficult position and can be groomed to meet offline. Predators are continuously hunting for their next victims. Folks, we are dealing with professional traffickers. Their methods are very high-tech and clever. You must stay on top of your child’s access and keep them safe.
It is important to keep in mind that what goes on the Internet stays on the Internet! Images, especially intimate ones, posts, personal information, etc. are never really deleted and stay online in perpetuity. Just because the platform being uses says they eliminate images, rapidly and are unavailable, does not stop a predator. All it takes is clicking a save button and voila the photo is captured. Even if the platform prevents downloads and saved, the predator can just simply take a photo of it with another phone or device.
Friends, Despite the apparent sophistication of your children, they have not developed a radar for danger. As a parent it is of course your job to protect them. In this segment, Dottie provides you with an inside look at what is going on online!
#10: Teens and young adults may sext to these apps, thinking the images cannot be shared, but the predators may take a photo of the screen and share the pic or video exponentially.
