Olivia’s parents contacted their local police department with information the private detective had ferreted out on Ronny. The police conducting a welfare check went directly to Ronny’s abode and met with Olivia.
Her parents were appreciative and grateful to actually see Olivia on the police body cam footage. However, they were extremely hurt and angered that the police could do nothing to help her. It was quite clear to her mother and father that she was coerced. Her face was strained, her eyes sunken and full of fear. Even her dog Sam showed signs of distress.
The police officer told them he had taken her for a ride in the car so he could interview her out of sight of Ronny. This was significant in that on that short drive they passed a location that somehow triggered Olivia’s fight response to survival. She began screaming and kicking the door of the police car and became incoherent and nonresponsive to the officer. She came out of it in a few minutes but did not seem even to be aware she had been agitated. The officer asked her repeatedly if she wanted to go to a hospital or if she wanted to go somewhere else. She calmed down and said “No, take me back to Ronny!”
The officer complied (Olivia was over eighteen and could do what she wanted). Sadly, the welfare check was over. Nevertheless, her parents were not placated and were quite sure she was unwell.
Law Enforcement officials are in a tight situation and must be careful of adults and their right to make bad decisions. They also must watch out for any potential harassment claims by Ronny and his family.
On the plus side for the drug enforcement division, officers were able to get on the property and observe the goings on. This had been a goal for the town’s drug detectives who had been trying for years to get onto the property.
Ronny, himself, led the officer around the house showing off his hovel. He was so proud of the three rooms that a husband, wife, three children aged 8-16 and their newfound adult victim had to live in.
It was something that would make a parent sick to view. I felt so sad for the parents. I feel their pain and their child’s pain. It is one of the worst feelings to know your child is suffering and to be unable to help them.
With law enforcement exhausted, the private investigator information used but with no result, now what? How do they get her free? What is holding her? What is he doing to her? Why does she stay? Why can’t law enforcement stop him?
Unfortunately, the more the parents find out, the further Olivia drifts away from them.
